<p>As you will learn the further you look into meditation, there are many different types of meditation.  Some are very ancient methods that have been used for thousands of years by various cultures.  Others are much more modern and, in such, are sometimes more popular.  Yet, learning about these types is something you should invest in.</p>
<p>Finding the right type of meditation for you is key and the process means educating yourself about the various types of meditation that you can select from.</p>
<p>Yet, all of these methods of meditation will fall into one of two different classifications.  If you were to select meditation on any sole factors, it would be based on these two methods available.</p>
<p>Thoroughly exploring both of these methods of meditation can be very important to finding success.  You’ll need to experiment with both types, eventually, to determine the bet route for you to take.</p>

<p>Concentrative Meditation</p>
<p>The first type of meditation is that of concentrative meditation.  In this type of meditation, the focus is on the way that you breathe, on an image, or on a sound.  Sound, or mantra, is often used.  By using these tools, so to speak, you are able to clear the mind and allow for greater awareness as well as clarity.</p>
<p>To focus on meditation, you’ll use one of these elements to help you to focus.  By focusing on it, like you would a camera lens, you can then effectively reach the state that you are in.</p>
<p>Breathing</p>
<p>One method of concentrative meditation that is commonly used is that of concentrating on your breathing.  It is probably the most simple of methods to use because you can do it any time without much need.</p>
<p>Breathing is effective because of how it plays a role in your daily life and well being.  Many of hose that practice other alternative medicines, such as yoga, also believe that breathing is essential to maintaining the correct state of mind.  In meditation, it is believed that breathing must be regulated in order to meditate properly.</p>
<p>You can see this clearly in your everyday life without considering meditation at all.  When you are relaxed and comfortable, your breathing is slowly and deeper.  But, when you are worried, stressed or anxious, your breathing speeds up.  If you are distracted, this happens as well.</p>
<p>By regulating your breathing, you can focus your mind and gain control over it more effectively.</p>
<p>But, how does breathing effect meditation?  Have you ever felt overwhelmed and anxious?  Where you afraid or even terrified?  If so, then you may have told yourself to take a deep breath and to calm down.  As you can see, you can control your own breathing.</p>
<p>As a tool in meditation in the concentrative methods, you can gain control over your mind using breathing.  To do this, you must regulate the breathing.  To do this, you’ll need to focus on the rhythm of your breathing.  The rhythm is the movement between inhaling and exhaling.</p>
<p>When you do this, sit and close your eyes.  Focus on your breathing, the movement of air in and out of your body.  You’ll need to concentrate on that breathing and only the breathing you are doing.</p>
<p>Soon, your meditation on breathing will become something that helps to ease your mind.  You’ll see this as your breathing becomes more regular and then deeper and slower.</p>
<p>When this happens, your mind too is changing.  It becomes quiet, calm and collected.  You’ll feel serenity and peace. You are also more aware of your surroundings and more likely to gain the benefits of meditation.</p>
<p>Breathing is just one example of concentrative meditation.  There are many other forms, some of which we will talk about later in this book.  Yet, remember that there is another type of method of meditation that accompanies concentrative meditation as the two forms that all methods and techniques of meditation fall under.</p>
<p>Mindfulness Meditation</p>
<p>Mindful meditation is quite unlike that of concentrative.  If we use the example of a lens to help show the difference, you can see this.  In concentrative meditation, you are concentrating on one single thing, focusing the lens on that one element, like breathing or something in the room that you are in.</p>
<p>On the other hand is mindfulness meditation.  Here, you are not focusing your lens, but widening it to include more and more information.</p>
<p>You may wonder just how including more of what is happening in any one moment can help you to collect your thoughts and focus your mind.  Yet, the fact is that you can do this because of how you do it.</p>
<p>Using your abilities, you’ll become very much aware of everything around you including all of your feelings, the things that you see, the things you hear, the smells and sounds, the very elements that you may want to filter out of your mind.</p>
<p>From here, though, something is unique.  You’ll notice and be mindful of these things, but you will not react to them.  Instead, you are simply taking in whatever is happening in your mind.  Don’t become overly involved with these elements.  You won’t allow for images, thoughts, or memories to filter into your mind here as they do when you are concentrating.</p>
<p>Because, you are not becoming involved with the images and elements that are filtering through your mind; you actually calm down.  Your mind is now clearer because it has taken in many of the things that are happening around you.  You aren’t focusing in on any one thing.  Instead, you are aware of everything going on, but not participating in it.</p>
<p>Although this method of meditation is one that is less well known and used by beginners because of how challenging it can be, it is still an ideal choice because it allows for a renewed sense of being and wholeness.  By focusing on everything but not on one single thing, you can clear your mind fully.</p>
<p>All types of meditation fall in one of these groups.  You will either use methods that are concentrative, in which you will concentrate on one thing to enter into a meditative state or you will use a mindfulness meditation method to enter this state.</p>
<p>For those that are looking towards these methods and wondering which to choose, don’t.  You can use both types of meditation to gain benefits and sometimes one method will work better than others will.  With the ability to learn either type, you’ll be that much better at meditation that fits what you are doing and what your body and mind needs at any one time.

<p>In the field of health care, one particular name stands out as one of the fastest growing segment of the industry – the massage therapy.  Massage therapy on its most basic can be considered as a healing art and a science, and balancing these two can produce a unique individual.  But, learning the art and science of massage therapy is not an easy task.  There are a lot of things to consider, and perhaps one of those is the different varieties of massage techniques, each with its own application, principle, and purposes.  Indeed it’s hard to know where exactly to start.</p>
<p>If you are one of the thousands of people who got an interest in learning the techniques and principles of massage therapy, I bet you would be happy to hear that getting an education as a massage therapist is a great way to begin.  Taking up a massage education in a well-established massage school can be your stepping stone to your future career.   But, before you consider massage training in a particular school, note first the following:<br />

<p>Aside from such mentioned areas, most of the massage schools offer supervised clinics that are usually available to the generally public.  These clinics were established for one particular purpose, that is, to give the students the chance to work on a variety of conditions and clients.</p>
<p>Massage School Requirements</p>
<p>When it comes to requirements, it is necessary to note that most massage schools have their own set of requirements for the students to meet.   The most common requirements have something to do with your entrance to the institution.   Most of the massage schools today require a diploma, although some require a post secondary education.</p>
<p>Also, massage schools typically conduct interviews for their incoming students.  The interview is usually considered as this is one the easiest ways to asses the personal qualities and characteristics of their entrants.   The qualities I am talking about nay involve communication skills, listening skills, the ability to understand and trust, and capacity of empathy.  There are also some massage schools that require knowledge in subjects related to science, humanities, business and sciences.</p>
<p>So before deciding on taking a massage therapy course or program, check out your educational facility first and compare the set of requirements if possible.</p>
<p>Massage therapy is offered today in more than a thousand massage schools throughout the United States and Canada alone.   It is usually offered both in community and private colleges, but of these two choices, it is the private massage schools basically that offer fast-paced programs.  These programs, however, are more expensive than those offers in the community massage schools.  So it is also necessary to consider your school first before taking up the course.

<p>Yoga has become an increasingly popular pastime among many of today’s professionals.  Surprisingly enough however, few people know that there is specific attire attached to the activity of yoga, specifically as far as pants are concerned.</p>
<p>Yoga is, in general, an activity that requires your clothes to be more flexible than you are, and stretch more than normal clothes.  Because of the often times unusual positions you will find yourself in when practicing yoga, the clothes you wear have to be especially adaptive to the specific activity you are going to be taking part in.  Just as you wouldn’t wear a Hawaiian shirt in the Artic, nor should you wear just any clothes when engaging in a strenuous activity as yoga.<br />

<p>What’s so special About Yoga Pants?</p>
<p>The primary premise of yoga is to release stress in the body and increase strength and flexibility.  It makes sense that anything to do with yoga also need to possess all these traits—strong and flexible, and avoiding adding stress anywhere in the body.  The result is a pair of yoga pants, that are full and supple, allowing a wide range of moment and flexibility while still remaining strong and comfortable.</p>
<p>Luckily for you, once you discover the joy of yoga pants, finding a pair that fit you perfectly is a relatively easy task.  Since the rise in popularity of yoga, yoga pants have become increasingly prevalent.  Nike, Victoria’s Secret, Gap, Old Navy and Reebok all carry varying styles and designs of pants—enough to satisfy just about any taste.</p>
<p>Fortunately, the only variance is in the price, not the quality of the pants themselves.  You could expect to pay an average of about $30 for a decent pair of yoga pants, while paying upwards of $70 for a pair of organic hemp yoga pants, or as low at $7 for a no name brand online.  While it is a bit of a money saver, you are more likely better off getting a pair of yoga pants from a clothing brand you know as and trust as opposed to an unknown make.  More often than not in clothing designed to a specific activity, it is better to go with a name brand rather than a generic.</p>
<p>Other than that, if you don’t feel you need a specific pair of pants for yoga, you want to look for a few key things in any pants you buy for yoga.  First off, the material needs to be soft—you’re going to moving in new and unusual ways, and you don’t want to chafe anywhere you’re not used to being rubbed.  Second, you moving in very unusual ways, and thus you will need to have freedom of movement—meaning that you need to have space in the pants—skin pants will not work for yoga pants.</p>
<p>Lastly, the pants should also stretch in some capacity—they don’t need to be like a rubber band, but jeans are entirely too stiff.  The idea is that you want the material to give, especially around the seams to avoiding tearing.

<p>While cardiovascular exercise during pregnancy can be hard to maintain due to decreased energy levels, nausea, and uncomfortable with the added weight of your baby, Pilates provides a great, safe way for you to maintain fitness throughout your pregnancy.  Pilates during pregnancy can be soothing, allowing you to focus on your body and your breathing, without added unnecessary strain.  In the past few years, as Pilates has grown to be more and more popular, the number of resources on Pilates during pregnancy has exploded.  You will not be at a loss to find classes and videos to get you started with a safe Pilates workout.</p>
<p>You can perform Pilates throughout the duration of your pregnancy.  In fact, not only does this keep you in shape during your pregnancy, but Pilates also helps prepare your body for the process of giving birth, and even the process of getting back into shape after your baby’s arrival.  By focusing on your body’s core, Pilates during pregnancy strengthens all the muscles your body will utilize during the birth of your baby.  The more in shape these muscles are, the smoother the birth process will be, and the faster you’ll recover afterwards.<br />

<p>Like most physical stress, you still need to be cautious about doing Pilates during pregnancy.  If you’re taking a class, make sure it is geared towards pregnant women.  Not all Pilates methods will be safe for you while you are pregnant.  You will be the best judge of what feels right for your body during this time.  If you’re doing Pilates and a move becomes increasingly uncomfortable for you, the best thing you can do is to just stop.  Make sure you consult with your doctor about doing Pilates during pregnancy, especially if you experience any other risks or complications.</p>
<p>The most important thing during your pregnancy is obviously the health of you and your baby.  Pilates during pregnancy is very possible, as long as you practice it more as a relaxation technique, and not as a power-house workout.  Focus on the mental aspects of Pilates that you may have been missing out on before.  Let your mind connect to your body as you prepare for the incredible task of delivering your baby.  Enjoy this time to just feel your body move, breathing and slowly strengthening.  You’ll have plenty of time after your baby is born to jump back into more intense Pilates methods.

<p>Egyptian belly dancing is also known as Oriental dance because it originated in the Middle Eastern region of the world. There is a lot of mythology and misconceptions about belly dancing that may surprise some people. It is an art form at its purest and it came from a place of purity as well, originally intended as abdominal exercises for pregnant women so as to strengthen their muscles for labour. Now, Egyptian belly dancing and other types of belly dancing are used for a variety of reasons and often the misconceptions about belly dancing can lead to an ignorant stigma directed towards this ancient and practical art.</p>
<p>The Middle Eastern and Egyptian regions of the world have often used movement as a means to a spiritual end. Egyptian belly dancing is a spiritual experience in that it gives the dancer access to the body and mind connection that engages the soul. Many belly dancers experience an intense spiritual ecstasy during the belly dancing period and can create such an experience for others as well. It is this deep and passionate meaning that creates a great deal of problems in terms of our North American viewpoint on belly dancing. Comparing it to exotic dancing enrages several professional belly dancers, and rightfully so.<br />

<p>A lot of the dancing from Northern Africa, in places like Egypt and Morocco, has a rich tapestry of tradition that guides the Egyptian belly dancing and the Moroccan dancing to our modern consciousness. The use of belly dancing in these regions today still exists as a form of a birth ritual that enables the women giving birth to stretch and work her abdomen to better prepare her for the challenges associated with child birth. This is also a way to spiritually prepare for the birth and many women from this region do not use a conventional soothing medicine to numb their bodies. The birth is pure and the belly dancing rituals aid in the smooth delivery.</p>
<p>Women also practice Egyptian belly dancing much like we would in the Western world as a form of entertainment. Women dance for other women, for friends, and for relatives. They may even dance for themselves as a way to entertain themselves during the day when their husbands are out working. It is a form of exercise and a pastime that gathers much enjoyment out of all that practice it.

<p>Beauchamps is credited for standardizing the initial five foot ballet positions which are highly considered as fundamental in the dance. It can also denote the various poses of the body which was first used in 1588 by Thoinot Arbeau and set down by Pierre Rameau in The Dancing Master in 1725.</p>
<p>These ballet positions are the starting and ending points for the intricate movements of the dance which we will get to familiarize. In all the ballet positions each leg is turned sideways from the hip. This give the toes extension out to each side and the feet form straight or parallel lines on the floor. The body weight should be evenly distributed over both feet, which can either remain flat on the floor, rest on the balls of the feet (demi-pointe) or rest on the toes (pointe is for women only). Corresponding positions of the arms and hands (port de bras) complete the perfect balance of the figure.<br />

<p>* First Ballet Position<br />
The heels are together with toes turned out until the feet are in a straight line. Arms are lowered while the hands are little in front of the thighs. This is the ballet dancer&#8217;s equivalent of “stand at ease.” Arms forward (held curved and apart as though embracing a large object). This position is known as the gateway position since it is the mid point of transition between other positions.</p>
<p>* Second Ballet Position<br />
The feet are in a parallel line, separated by a distance of about 12 inches (30 cm) and both turned outward with the weight equally divided between them. The weight is supported by one foot while the other is raised at the side. Arms held out to the side, curving slightly forward.<br />
* Third Ballet Position<br />
The heel of one foot rests against the instep of the other. Both are firmly turned out and the weight is divided between them. Used extensively in the 18th century social dances such as the minuet and gavotte, this position has almost disappeared from theatrical usage. Arms held aloft (en couronne - &#8220;like a crown&#8221;)</p>
<p>* Fourth Ballet Position<br />

In the fifth position, the feet are turned out and pressed closely together, the heel of the one foot against the toe of the other. One arm raised overhead, other held curved in front - note change in character from head straight to head tilted.</p>
<p>In addition, there are two major body positions in classical ballet. The arabesque is a position in which the weight of the body is supported on one leg, while the other leg is extended in back with the knee straight. The attitude is another position similar to the arabesque except that the knee of the raised leg is bent. The raised leg is held at a 90° angle to the body in back or in front (attitude an avant); the knee may be either well bent or nearly straight (attitude allongée).

<p>Everyone has heard about a Pilates workout. Most people know that this is a type of exercise and many think it is something like yoga and/or a branch of yoga. However, none of the above descriptions really capture the essence of what exactly a Pilates workout really is. One way of looking at it is that Pilates is a special work out for people who are unable to do vigorous exercises that are necessary to stay healthy and fit today.</p>
<p>Pilates Workout – The Basics</p>
<p>The origin of these exercises is traced to a German, Joseph Pilates who was sick in his childhood as he was suffering from asthma. He wanted to exercise and participate in sports; however his ailment did not allow him to do so.<br />

<p>So, he invented a series of exercises with the help of props and this form of fitness has now been acclaimed world wide. These exercises are not rigorous and can be performed by absolutely anybody without any bar of sex or age.  The main focus of the Pilates workout is to strengthen the muscles of the lower back, abdomen and buttocks.  There are exercises to strengthen each and every muscle in the body. Indeed if the Pilates workout is followed regularly, all the muscles in the body can be cured of many ailments.</p>
<p>The Pilates workout uses slow motion, long and flowing movements. The workout also needs a machine which is normally used to check and learn how to keep your balance while walking and sitting with the correct posture. The posture is crucial to all Pilates workouts.</p>
<p>There is another very important aspect of the Pilates workout, i.e. the control and exercising with the help of breath control. The imposition of good posture is balanced and enhanced by the regulation of breathing.</p>
<p>The prolonged practice of the Pilates workout will result in a very balanced and well worked out body, without really pumping machines at a gym which is normally used for body building. The exercises have also been very beneficial in improving alertness of the mind. Besides they can also be exceptionally calming and have even brought people out of depression.</p>
<p>However, it is imperative to always discuss a new workout or diet with a Doctor as what may be beneficial to one person can actually be harmful to another. Even if it seems easy to do, always consult your physician.
