Massage schools can be found anywhere on earth these days.  Yes, you heard me right.  Thousands of these massage schools are in fact operating in the United States alone.  And, now with the growing preference on massage therapy, the number of these schools, I bet, would go up and reach billions the following year.  Let’s just see.

Anyway, the number of massage schools continues to rise as more and more people have recognized the benefits that massage has to offer.   As you may know, massage therapy has long been considered as the most natural healing remedy, with the power to heal injuries and release tension, pain, and stress caused by the daily activities.  It is so wonderful that massage has the capability to heal all wounds, be it physically, emotionally, or spiritually.  No matter what the problem is, massage could be a great healing tool to use.

Yoga has become an increasingly popular pastime among many of today’s professionals.  Surprisingly enough however, few people know that there is specific attire attached to the activity of yoga, specifically as far as pants are concerned.

Yoga is, in general, an activity that requires your clothes to be more flexible than you are, and stretch more than normal clothes.  Because of the often times unusual positions you will find yourself in when practicing yoga, the clothes you wear have to be especially adaptive to the specific activity you are going to be taking part in.  Just as you wouldn’t wear a Hawaiian shirt in the Artic, nor should you wear just any clothes when engaging in a strenuous activity as yoga.

Egyptian belly dancing is also known as Oriental dance because it originated in the Middle Eastern region of the world. There is a lot of mythology and misconceptions about belly dancing that may surprise some people. It is an art form at its purest and it came from a place of purity as well, originally intended as abdominal exercises for pregnant women so as to strengthen their muscles for labour. Now, Egyptian belly dancing and other types of belly dancing are used for a variety of reasons and often the misconceptions about belly dancing can lead to an ignorant stigma directed towards this ancient and practical art.

The Middle Eastern and Egyptian regions of the world have often used movement as a means to a spiritual end. Egyptian belly dancing is a spiritual experience in that it gives the dancer access to the body and mind connection that engages the soul. Many belly dancers experience an intense spiritual ecstasy during the belly dancing period and can create such an experience for others as well. It is this deep and passionate meaning that creates a great deal of problems in terms of our North American viewpoint on belly dancing. Comparing it to exotic dancing enrages several professional belly dancers, and rightfully so.

Fundamental Ballet Positions

Beauchamps is credited for standardizing the initial five foot ballet positions which are highly considered as fundamental in the dance. It can also denote the various poses of the body which was first used in 1588 by Thoinot Arbeau and set down by Pierre Rameau in The Dancing Master in 1725.

These ballet positions are the starting and ending points for the intricate movements of the dance which we will get to familiarize. In all the ballet positions each leg is turned sideways from the hip. This give the toes extension out to each side and the feet form straight or parallel lines on the floor. The body weight should be evenly distributed over both feet, which can either remain flat on the floor, rest on the balls of the feet (demi-pointe) or rest on the toes (pointe is for women only). Corresponding positions of the arms and hands (port de bras) complete the perfect balance of the figure.
